Site responses to Plimsoll Bridge and Cumberland Basin, March 2026
Imagining the future of Plimsoll Bridge by drawing on narratives of the past, Stones uses images of stones from the site to speculate a future ceremonial site, a new stone circle ‘publicised’ through fly-pasting.
Signs thinks about the bridge turning with the tides following the pull and push of the moon, pausing the flow of traffic above. The work draws upon an ancient Gallaic poem, ‘The Lament of the Hag of Beara’ to lend her voice lamenting her own aging and impending passing.
