A series of writing prompts yesterday evening in my online class.
A set of readings around research methodologies.
I want to find a methodology of slow attention, a series of tools and steps I know will work for myself to slow my attention; I think this is research methodology. And I return again and again to what slow attention might be. I need to work from what it can result in, or what I want it to result in, and work backwards from that.
I also know that developing a practice, an ongoing, regular, sustained practice is part of this.
Distraction, social media, feeds and posts are the elements I want move into the edges of my attention to bring my mind and attention to those things that need close attention. I want to examine and think about dust and debris, to think about future time, and legacies. I want to think about the past and far away time to feel a sense of being and presence now.
So, a slow attention methodology. What would it look like? Writing. Thinking. Silence. Using the body's vision system. Being part of elements like wind and light and water.
So, my images couldn't remain as images, projected or not. The need sound around and within them. They need space around them.
